Why do others shame and bully us? Why do we cast blame and shame on others? Where does shame come from?
Shame affects every area of our life and relationships. In order to cure shame, we have to find its root source, which may be subtly (yet destructively) hidden in commonly accepted teachings and religious beliefs that wreak havoc on our self-image. Shame speaks candidly about the lies we believe about ourselves — about others — and invites us to shift our understanding so we can begin to heal and live without the baggage of our past. Ask yourself "What in my thinking about God’s view of me, do I need to change so I don’t live in shame? Does God really see me as someone who deserve damnation just for being born?"
If you sense that the God of the Bible is a God who is both just and loving — who holds us to a holy standard and yet offers us the grace and mercy through His Son to reach that standard — then condemn the shame you feel.
Find freedom from the lies you believe.
Praise for Shame
"From a pastoral and theological perspective, Shame addresses one of the most important problems among Christians today. This is a vital message for those who find themselves working the Christian life harder but enjoying Jesus less." ~ Ed Underwood, Pastor, Church of the Open Door
"This is an important work from Curtis Tucker, and I do believe it has the ability to be life-changing for many readers. As our view of God and of self becomes whole, freedom becomes a reality, and our hope for the future begins to soar. I recommend it highly. ~ Robert Ricciardelli, Founder, the Converging Zone
"A must-read for every believer, especially for those who have had a legalistic experience that drove them to feel unworthy, or never able to be good enough or to do enough good works to matter. People who have felt unworthy, out of touch with their Creator, driven by a performance-oriented, religious culture, will find in these pages liberating information." ~ George Meisinger, Chancellor, Chafer Theological Seminary
"Shame gave voice to many of my wrestlings and questions about why I struggle so much to truly believe my worth in the eyes of God. Could it be that He loves me—all of me—insecurities and all? Curtis Tucker gently leads readers toward a whole view of God’s love and how it’s beautifully lavished on us all." ~ Mary DeMuth, Author
Shame Finding Freedom from the Lies We Believe edition by Curtis H Tucker Religion Spirituality eBooks
Curious, I purchased Damn Shame after hearing mention of it from a couple of friends. I was hoping it might shed light on why someone close to me made a devastating choice. Was I ever in for a surprise when I discovered I needed to read the book, which I couldn't put down and ended up completing over the course of a day, for ME. Curtis Tucker clearly shows (without condemnation!) how pervasive shame is in most people's lives and how it causes us to hide—both from God and from others. This began in the garden and continues to this day when we, often unknowingly, choose to believe lies about the goodness and love of God and our worth in His eyes. Since many of these lies come through inaccurate teachings in the church, Tucker walks us through God’s story and helps us re-examine what Scripture really says. As a teacher, he is gentle yet thorough, interesting yet deep. The book concludes with a beautiful challenge to live life loved, freed from shame (because our thinking has been changed), abiding in the One who assures us of our worth. It’s for this reason that I highly recommend Damn Shame—because the ability to do that is worth FAR more than the cost of the book or a few hours of time.Product details

Great book!
I have never read the story of God and His Devine love for us, His creation. Knowing His unconditional love give a new feeling about God and His love everlasting. I no longer feel fear of losing God"s love in my life. Thanks for this book.

I'm so thankful for my parents who raised me to know God. My childhood involved going to church three times a week. As I grew, I had questions that had to do with foundational matters where it seemed that in one place the Bible said this, but the way I had been taught said another. I basically stayed with the beliefs I had been taught and just buried the uneasiness. But it does not work! While my parents and my church had the most loving intentions, they were teaching what they were taught, and on down the line it went. Thank you Curtis. I see where those false beliefs had bogged me down with shame....and I've never felt more free!!
Exceptional read. Very thought-provoking, and gave me the ability to see God in a different light...a light of love. Thank you Curtis.
Easy to read straight forward truth about God's absolute love for you, no matter what! It will free you from needless and crippling shame.
The most clear and honest book on how we got to this place of shaming ourselves and others, Wonderful book. Thanks Curtis for spending the time putting this down on paper.
"Damn Shame" gives vocabulary and structure to think about and discuss the feelings of shame that weigh us down and constrict our ability to enjoy the abundant life God intends for every person. Mr. Tucker takes on the shortcomings of traditional reform theology in a refreshing way. Every Jesus follower knows the second greatest commandment is to "love your neighbor as yourself". But the underlining presuppostion (that we love ourselves) is eroded by shame. The tools for "abiding in Christ" presented in this book are exactly what a person needs to erase shame so we can truly love our neighbor as ourself.
